Abstraction series, 2021
The series Abstraction presents a collection of conceptual photographs inspired by the works of prominent 20th-century abstract painters. Each image is the result of a long-term, deeply thoughtful process that combines the study of art history, sketching, artistic preparation, and meticulous handcraft. Instead of digital manipulation, the artist chooses the path of authentic, physically created imagery.
Every visual element — from backgrounds and props to styling and bodypainting — is handmade with a focus on tangibility, texture, and the human touch. This deliberate choice of handcrafting brings photography back to its artistic roots and gives the images a depth and energy that cannot be digitally replicated.
In her photographs, the artist strives to place human models within the world of two-dimensional, flat art, which was the goal pursued by abstract painters. Her aim is to transfer the principles and aesthetics of abstract painting into photography, creating a unique dialogue between the living figure and abstract form.
Her inspiration draws from the works of Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, and Sonia Delaunay, among others, with each portrait carrying a personal interpretation of a specific artwork, translated into the contemporary medium of staged photography.
